MetaMask Accepts PayPal For Ethereum Purchases

MetaMask has integrated PayPal into its software wallet, allowing US users to buy Ethereum straight from its mobile app. While the tool is not currently accessible to all US users, MetaMask intends to gradually push it out "in the next weeks."

According to the statement, PayPal connectivity would be available only through the MetaMask mobile app. The MetaMask browser plugin already allows users in the United States to buy cryptocurrencies straight from their wallet using CoinbasePay, Transak, MoonPay, or Wyre.

According to MetaMask Product Manager Lorenzo Santos, the new functionality will make it easier for users to explore Web3.

"With this connection with PayPal, our US consumers will be able to not only buy cryptocurrency securely through MetaMask, but also simply explore the Web3 ecosystem," Santos stated.

According to Santos, the PayPal connection will be accessible on MetaMask's desktop browser extension "in the next quarter."

Santos also confirmed that MetaMask's 1% service fee and any relevant PayPal costs will apply to all orders. When asked if Apple's 30% in-app purchase fee would apply to ETH purchases made through the MetaMask mobile app, Santos said that MetaMask "cannot give any information on this at the present."
